Yu, MD
Dr.
Sherman Yu
is a
native
Houstonian
who grew
up in the
Southwest
part of
the city.
He
attended
the
University
of Texas
at Austin
where he
graduated
with High
Honors in
Chemical
Engineering,
and then
returned
to Houston
where he
received
his
medical
degree at
Baylor
College of
Medicine,
with
honors in
his
surgical
rotations.
After
finishing
his
studies,
Dr. Yu
performed
his
surgical
training
at the
University
of
Colorado
Health
Sciences
Center in
Denver. It
was there
that he
developed
a special
interest
in
minimally
invasive
and
laparoscopic
surgical
techniques,
especially
in the
field of
obesity
surgery.
While
still a
resident
physician,
he
authored
many
research
articles
and
presented
at
national
conferences.
Dr. Yu is
also the
Bariatric
Medical
Director
at Park
Plaza
Hospital
in Houston, Texas and performs single incision
bariatric procedures.

Terry Scarborough, MD Dr. Terry
Scarborough is a native of Clovis, New Mexico.
He is recognized as a Center of Excellence®
Surgeon by the Surgical Review Corporation, and
is a member in good standing of the American
Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Recently named one of America's Top Surgeons by
Consumers Research Council of America, Dr.
Scarborough has performed more than 4000
laparoscopic procedures, including over 1000
laparoscopic bariatric procedures.
Dr. Scarborough earned a degree in Pharmacy,
with honors, from the University of New Mexico
in Albuquerque. In 1993, Dr. Scarborough
received his medical degree, also with honors,
from the University of New Mexico School of
Medicine. Dr. Scarborough performed his surgery
residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in
Houston. He then completed a year-long
fellowship in laparoscopic surgery, also at
Baylor. During his fellowship year, Dr.
Scarborough authored multiple articles in the
field of laparoscopic surgery.
In 2002, Dr. Scarborough began performing
laparoscopic bariatric procedures following
special training in laparoscopic gastric bypass
and laparoscopic gastric banding. Dr.
Scarborough joined Dr. Sherman Yu in private
practice with Texas Laparoscopic Consultants in
June, 2008.
