Jodi's
Story

I have
always
been
overweight.
Over the
years
the
scale
just
kept
moving
up. I
had
tried
many
different
diets
and
weight
loss
trends,
but they
never
seem to
work. If
I did
end up
loosing
any
weight,
I only
seem to
gain it
back
plus a
few
extra
pounds.
I
started
looking
into
weight
loss
surgery
in March
of 2006.
I was
borderline
morbidly
obese,
being
5'4"
and weighing
in at
227 lbs. I
contacted
Obesity
Surgical
Specialist
in April
2006.
After
the
first
seminar
I was
sold on
the
procedure.
Dr.
Marvin
explained
all the
surgical options,
with all
the
pro's
and
con's of
each
procedure.
I choose
the
Gastric
Bypass
procedure.
Dr.
Marvin
was on
vacation
during
the time
I wanted
to
schedule
my
surgery
so Dr.
Thomas
took
care of
me. I
was one
of the
fortunate
one's
that the
insurance
company
approved
within a
week.
After a
couple
of the
standardized
tests my
surgery
took
place
June 26,
2006.
This
was the
beginning
of my
new
life.
Don't
let
anyone
say that
you are
taking
the easy
way out.
It was
not an
easy
decision
to make,
nor an
easy
recovery.
There is
pain, as
with any
major
surgery,
as well
as
needed
recovery
time.
I can
say that
since my
surgery
I have
worked
out more
than I
have in
my whole life
- which
I know
is
helping
with my
weight
loss.
The
surgery
alone
will not
keep the
weight
off but it
has
changed
my
outlook
on life.
I want
to eat
better
and I
want to
exercise.
It has
only
been 4
1/2
months
since my
surgery and
I have
already
lost 64
lbs. I
still
have
another
23 lbs
until I
hit my
goal,
but I
never
thought
I would
be down
from a
size 20
to a
size 10
in less
than 5
months!
